The community benefits by enjoying original artwork in various locations and witnessing the positive impact our youth can make. JHS/AIP also allows JHS artists to volunteer and work with various art related festivals and events in the Onslow County area to foster a deeper appreciation for the arts and community. The process is win-win for the community, JHS art students, and the JHS Visual Arts Department.
The students benefit by gaining a better understanding of the power of art, how it can speak, and how it can unite people. The initiative helps JHS students by giving opportunities to give of themselves and their talents by working with and within the community. Through collaborative works, exhibitions, mentoring, and service, students gain a deeper confidence in themselves and a greater sense of their purpose in the world. In many instances, this project has steered wayward students on a better path through a sense of accomplishment, positive reinforcement, and adult mentoring.
These JHS/AIP projects are of the utmost importance to growing these young people as artists and humanitarians.
